Kids lose focus. Grades slip. Screen time replaces activity. Adults feel unprepared, out of shape, or stuck in a routine that isn't working.

That's what this training is for. Sensei Anthony Scott has spent 46 years in karate — training, competing, and teaching. He founded Pocono Self Defense School to bring traditional Japanese karate to the Poconos with a focus on practical self-defense you can actually use.

This is not a belt factory. Training here is hard. Students are expected to work, and the results follow:

  • Physical conditioning that builds real strength and endurance
  • Sharper focus — parents regularly tell us their kids' grades improve
  • Confidence that comes from earning it, not being handed it

We teach kids and adults. Whether you're a parent looking for discipline and structure for your child, or an adult who wants to learn how to handle yourself, the training is the same: traditional, rigorous, and effective.

Osu! — patience, respect and appreciation

Healthy competition

Competition builds confidence. Our students prove it.

Grit and determination

At Pocono Self Defense, we cry in the dojo so we can laugh on the battlefield

Student expectations

We expect focus in training and in school. No exceptions.

One becomes a beginner after 1000 days of training. One becomes a master after 10,000 days of practice.
